meet your guideHello! My name is Kara! I grew up in Orange County, California for most of my life till the travel bug hit and I lived in Venice Italy, Las Vegas and Edinburgh Scotland! I also traveled extensively throughout Europe and Japan several times!
I went to several universities and colleges on my journey including Scoula Internazionale di Graphica in Venice Italy for art and photography, California State University of Fullerton for Illustration and the Japanese Language to Fashion and Costume Design at Orange Coast College in California. For art, I entered into an event to create a Chalk Art square, some time ago, at a local community in California. I won Most Original with my design of "Mother Earth". I have illustrated a book with Michelle Gregory as the writer for "I'm Olei! The Moringa Oleifera Tree!". Published a short graphic novel with TokyoPop called 'Veritas Kiss". Also, I have worked on some sides projects including character costume designs for a dynamic historical Korean animation called Soosin Yi and designs and construction for costumes for a Quinceneara. My loves are animals, chocolate, ice skating, snowboarding, hiking, hallmark movie channel, candles, gelatos, art, crafts, photography, inspirational books and movies, books, volunteer work, giving someone a hug, creating something new, entrepreneurship, astrophysics, twinkle lights, nature, technology, scarves, great food and mulled wine, languages, cultures, travel, friendships, neurology, soul family, feathers, sunrise and sunsets, mountains, laughter, holding hands and inspirational ah-ha moments. In 2015, I was able to help out a friend and meet new friends along the way for volunteer work. When I was in California for two weeks, I had learned how to train a horse and for fourth months helped out at the no-kill animal shelter in Las Vegas with cats. This had led me to want to be a part of peoples and animals lives with a deeper connection. So for 2016, I am ready to take this challenge in this world of unknown to achieve a deeper and loving connection with others through volunteer and social media. Let's go! |
so why am i doing this project? The one thing I wanted to do in 2015, was to volunteer in some way...to shadow someone's life with understanding and learn something at the same time! I also wanted to learn new things like start learning a new language or read 15 books in a month.
While living in Las Vegas, I had the opportunity to work with the no-kill animal shelter NSPCA and work with the cats as a volunteer. I went for four months and for three times a week. It wasn't all about playing and petting the cats, but something much deeper than that. I saw the ones who were overlooked, scared, aggressive...those souls needed the most attention and help! I worked with them on their psychology and to release any fears that would hinder their adoption process. The changes were absolutely amazing! A complete 180° turn around to confidence! The joy on seeing these cats happily going home finally fills me such gratitude! I realized that this is why we are here on this planet! To connect with others. To help those who don't know how to shine, for those who are afraid to ask for help, giving a hand to someone who needs it, give someone a real hug or help voice their hearts. It's breaking the barriers and the social conditioning that will make this transformation possible! So why am I doing this project? To connect with YOU! That means anyone from around the world, to the hosts, local communities, animals and those whose voices are yet to be heard. To show that, YES, one person CAN make a difference! Yes, you can travel for next to nothing yet share your magic of life with others you meet through volunteering and sharing their special stories to the world! With so much available resources, we can easily make a difference in the world today! Even at a click of a button! Be a part of this community and share the wonder of these adventures with me!
